EYE - s/t 7”
(2012, USA, Lost Weekend)

Fantastic two song E.P. from Columbus, Ohio’s premier psych rock group. I was blown away by this record, great sound, great vocals, great riffs, awesome record. The only wrong with it is that it is only two songs.

REDNECKS - Keepsake 7”
(2013, Japan, Hardcore Survives)

This is the third 7” from Rednecks. The cover is an annoying pocket sleeve made out of very thin news print paper. I guess they made it as a nod to some of the 80s covers that were made like this. I guess 30 years from now there can be bunch of these records without surviving covers too. Rednecks are really noisy and nasty sounding like a lot of the new wave of noisy Japanese HC bands, but they actually write songs and have discernible riffs and strong recordings. Another great one, they are 3 for 3 now. Cool SST knockoff HCS logo on this one.

VENDETTA - Fuck Off And Die!!! 7”
(2013, Japan, Hardcore Survives)

I told myself that I was going to boycott this one sided, two song tour EP. But then I came across it and bought it because it was easy…plus I really like this band. I caved. Good sounding UK82 inspired Japanese hardcore. I am hoping for a well done 12” 45 from these lads. Silk screened cover…I guess 300 pressed.

RANCID COCKS - 畜生 7”
(1998, Japan, Dan-Doh)

Great underrated 90s Kyushu hardcore, don’t let the name scare you off. Comes with black and white folded, one sided insert.

SATAN’S SATYRS - Black Souls 7”
(2014, USA, Trash King)

"Cult movie heavy rock." Just got this in the mail today and had to immediately play it. I like the direction they are going, this recording is less "tone knob turned all the way down" sounding. Of course there are good riffs and the energy is better than the LP. Can’t wait for the new album. Apparently the European version of this EP has a different B side.

POISON MASK - Graveyard World 7” (2012, Finland, Putrid Filth Conspiracy)
This is the first release from PFC in a while, he seems to have been concentrating more on his death metal label. Not surprisingly, this is hardcore with black and deathmetal influences. This cover is very reminiscent of the Bastards - World Burns To Death E.P. All in all, I think this goes together well, there aren’t a bunch of cheesy breakdowns or out of place metallic riffs, this is still on the raging hardcore side of the fence. 300 pressed, supposedly. Cool stuff, curious to hear more.

THE BLUE HEARTS - s/t 12”
(1987, Japan, Meldac)

The Japanese Ramones! Even if you don’t like so-called pop punk, this is a classic. So catchy and fun, I was told this was repressed not long ago, so don’t pay horror prices if you don’t care about having the first press. This comes in a tip-on sleeve and 2 color, 2 sided insert.

THE HIGH LOWS - GO! ハイロウズ GO! 10”
(1999, Japan, Kitty)

Great live 10” from The High-Lows, the band that came after The Blue Hearts. As you can expect, it’s more great, catchy poppy punk in the same vein. An awesome gift from a friend when I was feeling nostalgic, this is the only release that has that infectious “pa-pa panda panda” song. Yeah, that one! Comes with obi and two sided b/w insert.

VÅNNA INGET - Ingen Botten 12”
(2014, Sweden, P.Trash - Erste Theke Tronträger)

I LOVED their first LP, so I couldn’t wait for this one. I have already listened about 20 times, but I think I need to listen another 20 to get a full grasp of this new one. If you can imagine it, this one is even more saccharine than the first. There are some really catchy tunes and a little more experimentation with the songs and there is also a prominent organ involved. So far I love it, not sure if it beats the first one yet. The first one felt like it had a more cohesive upbeat flow, but we’ll see how I feel after 100 listens. I believe the U.S. version is now officially available from Man In Decline records.
